Meet the Moon Bear Tutors
Micha has been teaching music for over 15 years. She has taught drum-kit, hand drumming, and general music skills to students of all ages and skill levels, including children and adults with diverse needs. She has taught in private and community music schools, primary schools, early childhood centres, community centres, and mental health facilities. She currently directs the Community Rock School program at ANU’s Open School of Music, and has done so since its conception in 2018.
Micha has played in a number of local bands, particularly rock and punk metal bands, but loves playing a wide variety of styles. She was a founding member of African drum and dance group Troupe Olabisi, and currently plays bass in local Canberra band G&T-Rex.
Micha holds a Certificate IV in Community Services and a Certificate IV Mental Health.
She is passionate about accessible music education, community music programs, and helping individuals connect (or reconnect) with music in their own way.
Beth is an ANU School of Music Performance graduate and has been teaching music in Canberra since 2008. Over the years, Beth has tutored hundreds of students of all ages and levels in guitar, bass, ukulele, songwriting, music theory and performance.
Beth is currently the co-creator and director of Song to Studio, a community music program run by ANU’s Open School of Music, where she is also part of the Community Rock School tutor team. In the past, Beth has been a guest tutor for Girls Rock, a holiday music program, and taught music history through the Centre for Continuing Education.
Beth has been an avid performer in the Canberra music scene for over 20 years, performing as a solo singer-songwriter and in various bands. She has been fortunate enough to share the stage with the likes of INXS, Chris Isaak, Julia Jacklin, Jebediah, and Sarah McLeod. Beth currently composes and performs in local four-piece band G&T-Rex.
Beth’s priority is for her students to have a positive and meaningful connection to music.
